The filtration of polluted and dust-charged flue gases is a show-case example for the use of Lenzing PROFILEN® yarns and staple fibers. High-performance filter media, made of this fiber, have stood the test under difficult conditions, as can be found for example in waste incineration plants where they meet even the highest environmental standards.
The unique irregular cross-section of staple fibers allows a surface-oriented filtration with outstanding filtration efficiency. Resistance to abrasive dust particles, a lower loss of differential pressure, as well as an almost complete resistance to chemicals and the permanent temperature stability of the filter media up to 280o C ensures excellent operating safety. The anti-adhesive character of the material accounts for a particularly good cleaning behavior, which prevents "dimming", i.e. the settling of dust particles on the filter medium.
The material is extremely resistant and reliable, which is reflected – last but not least – in the service life of the filter media. Lenzing PROIFLEN® has been used non-stop in numerous applications for many years.
